It Feels Good to be Small...

In a world that wants to tell you that "You're Enough",
While it's meant to make you feel strong,
Why is it that you're tired and exhausted,
And feel more lack than enough?

If you think that retirement is the answer,
If you think that just a few more years is the key,
If you think that just until I make my next million is wisdom,
Is it really?

We try so hard to be in charge,
We try so hard to be strong,
We try so hard to be something we're not,
And it can be exhausting.

There's good news.
God is STRONG,
God is BIG,
God is ALMIGHTY and POWERFUL
So we don't have to be.

God tells us to REST in Him,
God tells us to HIDE AWAY in Him,
That He will be our REFUGE,
That He will RESTORE our soul.

So why are we trying so hard?
Why do we think we're strong?
Who said we are?
Not Jesus.
He said when we're weak He is STRONG.

"My power is made perfect in weakness"

So stop trying to be so big and strong,
And embrace the little and weak,
So that Jesus can be big and strong FOR us,
And we can say, "It feels good to be SMALL..."

Stop with the puffery of our own plans,
And let Jesus take the wheel,
Cuz we're running into trees and brick walls,
Thinking we're winning when we're leaking oil,

Take ourselves to the God Body Shop,
Let Him fix and heal us,
Let Him take care of us totally,
Give Him the keys and just say "It feels good to be SMALL..."

Job in the Bible lost everything he had for no reason except for God allowed the test.
He went from most respected to the most rejected,
He went from healthy to scraping boils off his skin with pieces of clay,
He went from having a loving wife to one that told him to curse God and die.

As he cried out to God with mixed emotions,
Hurting physically and emotionally,
With no support from friends or family,
God finally spoke up,
And Job had an "OMG, I'm so small!" moment.

While God never answered ANY of Job's questions,
He answered ALL of Job's questions by saying,

"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?... or who laid its cornerstone"

"Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place"

"Have you entered into the springs of the sea, or walked in the recesses of the deep?"

"Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion?
Can you lead forth the constellations in their season,
or can you guide the Bear with its cubs?"

"Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?"

"Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens"

"Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?"

"Does the hawk take flight by your wisdom and spread its wings toward the south?"

"Does the eagle soar at your command and build its nest on high?"

My squeaky voice would reply "Umm.... nooo~??"

When this is the resume of the God who is watching over us,

I can surely say, "It feels good to be SMALL..."

So let's rest in the BIG arms of Jesus,
Let's sit in the palm of His LARGE hands,
Let's be embraced by His WIDE arms,
And say, "It feels good to be SMALL..."

"Dear Heavenly Father,
Teach me to be good at feeling SMALL,
So that You can be BIG in my life,
So I don't try to be king,
And let You sit on the throne of my heart.

Show me Your ways,
And help me follow,
For even when I see right,
I do wrong.
Even when you tell me the truth,
I follow lies.

I'm small and hopeless without You,
But WITH You I am small yet full of life,
You are my strength,
You are my shield,
You are my daily bread,
I only want You.

Let this be the truth of my every day,
Let this be the light that guides my actions,
Let this be the path I take,
For the rest of my life.

I'm tired of being strong,
I'm tired of being big,
Because I'm really weak,
Because I'm really small.

Let me find rest in You and say,
It feels good to be SMALL,
Because You are a BIG, BIG God.

In Jesus name, Amen."

Cheer to being small so that God can be BIG,
Be weak so God can be STRONG,
It's the best swip swap you will ever make. ^_-

Have a great day!
