Breaks The Bow, Shatters The Spear...
I thought I had great plans for my life,
I thought I had big dreams,
I definitely had ambitions,
And what I thought were lofty goals.
But God let me see how futile they all were,
He let me feel the weight of my own ambitions,
He let me be crushed by them.
He wanted me to know,
I am NOT supposed to be the lord of my life,
But Him and Him alone.
Whatever goals and plans I had,
They were nothing in comparison to His,
Yet they were competing as if they were,
And He wanted me to realize that,
"He breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
He burns the shields with fire,
He says, `Be still, and know that I am God.`"
God is in control,
But when I try to be in control,
I crush myself,
I bury myself alive in greed,
I suffocate myself in my own wisdom,
And lead a tired, empty life called death.
But God saved me from myself,
He let my ways fall apart,
He let my wisdom fail,
To remind me that,
"He breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
He burns the shields with fire,
He says, `Be still, and know that I am God.`"
So if you are burdened and heavy laden,
If you feel yourself burning out,
If you're running out of gas,
If you're running on fumes,
Remember that,
"There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way of death."
Let God be the one to conquer the obstacles,
Let God be the one to move mountains,
Let God be the one to order your steps and remember,
"He breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
He burns the shields with fire,
He says, `Be still, and know that I am God.`"
Let go.
Let go of your ambitions,
Let go of your desires,
Let go of your ways,
Let go of your intellect,
Let go of your experience,
Let go of your wisdom,
It's all useless in the sight of God.
You will not be the one to win the battles,
You will not be the one to wage the wars,
You will not be the one leading to victory,
God is.
"He breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
He burns the shields with fire,
He says, `Be still, and know that I am God.`"
No earthly thing shall prevail,
Not my plan,
Nor the Adversary's plan,
Nor my dreams or ambitions or goals,
But God's will be done.
Will you LET God be God today?
Just LET Him.
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Please help me LET You be God,
Help me LET You be in charge,
Help me LET You lead the way,
Help me LET go.
May I reach the end of my ropes,
May I reach the end of my ways,
May I reach the end of my ambitions,
May I reach the end of my wisdom.
May I know that You are the one that,
"breaks the bow and shatters the spear",
And "burns the shields with fire."
May I "Be still, and know that [You are] God."
