A Good Hate...
Hate is a strong word.
It's a nasty word that should not be used,
But there is ONE type of hate that is actually GOOD.
The hate of EVIL.
"The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil."
What is evil?
Simply put...
Evil is anything that SEPARATES us from God.
That's the only reason why God HATES evil,
Because it separates Him from His children.
Do you know what separation from God results in?
Death.
That's why God HATES evil so much,
Because it KILLS His beloved children.
It's POISON.
"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death."
If you replace the word evil with POISON,
It will help you understand why God HATES evil so much.
Evil is POISON for His children.
He wants us to hate the POISON that will kill us.
The sad thing is...
We've become used to little evils and POISONS in our lives.
It doesn't phase us at all when we create a little distance from God.
For example,
When we get too busy for God,
It doesn't tear us up,
When we disobey God,
It doesn't make us sick,
When we spend more time on social media than with God,
We don't mourn in our hearts.
As a matter of fact,
We may mourn missing an episode of our favorite show more than missing quiet time with God.
How do you think this makes God feel?
To get used to such POISONS in our lives,
To be accustomed to EVILS that separate us from Him.
How about our tongue?
The words we speak that take us one step further away from God,
The snide remarks,
The impatient comment,
The sharp tone,
Words that stab,
All these things delight Satan,
But separate us a bit further from God.
These EVILS don't grieve us like it does Holy Spirit,
We breeze right past it,
And do it again the next day.
If each day creates 1 step of separation from God by doing these things,
Then after 1 year,
We have taken 365 steps away from God.
Who's winning or laughing then?
Satan or God?
"Hate evil, and love good"
This is why we MUST learn to HATE evil.
We must learn to be SENSITIVE to the things that separate us from God (aka LIFE),
And be heartbroken over it,
Or else we will continue doing it.
But only God can change our hearts to be that way,
Only God can sharpen our spiritual senses,
Only God can turn us back from our EVIL ways,
And bring us back into His light.
"Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good."
"O you who love the Lord, hate evil!"
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for loving EVIL.
Forgive me for playing with it,
Forgive me for tolerating it,
Forgive me for being oblivious to it.
How it must break Your heart,
But let me break Your heart no more.
Make me sensitive to EVIL,
Help me loathe it the way You do,
Help me be disgusted by it the way You are,
Help me react violently to it the way You do.
May all the things of this world that is NOT of You,
Taste bitter, foul and rotten,
May I spit it out like the vile poison that it is,
May I have an allergic reaction to EVIL,
May I see it from a mile a way,
May it's wretched stench make my senses queasy,
May I HATE evil like You do.
As a results, may I love what You love,
May I hate what You hate,
May I be grieved by what grieves You,
May I be delighted by what delights You.
Lord, grant me the desires of Your heart and make all Your plans succeed.
