Spiritual Taste Buds (Part 3): DE-sensitized
Have you ever thought "I should spend more time with God" but can't seem to fit Him into the busy schedule?
Have you ever thought "I need to read more scripture." but fall asleep whenever you try?
If you think about it...
Why isn't God and the Bible more interesting than it is?
Why is the next episode of our favorite TV show more exciting than spending time with Jesus?
How come we can spend 8 hours binging on a TV show but it's hard to pray for 5 minutes?
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
"Hmm... something's off about this."
There's a perfectly logical explanation for this.
It's called being DE-sensitized.
As mentioned in our last message,
If your taste buds are INSENSITIVE to flavor,
Then you can't taste or enjoy the food you eat.
Likewise, if your spiritual taste buds have been DE-sensitized,
Then you won't enjoy God, the Bible or prayer.
So what causes our Spiritual Taste Buds to become INSENSITIVE?
Do you know why loud music leads to hearing loss?
Your inner ear has these tiny sensitive hair cells,
When they are OVER-stimulated,
It DE-sensitizes them and eventually kills them,
Resulting in hearing loss,
DE-sensitized through OVER-stimulation.
Cocaine works the same way,
It OVER-stimulates the brain with dopamine,
A person is no longer satisfied with natural level of pleasure,
And can only be satisfied by OVER-stimlation,
DE-sensitized and DEATH through OVER-stimulation.
This world has an 5 star buffet of OVER-stimulation,
Through social media,
Youtube,
TV shows,
Shopping,
Eating,
Traveling,
Money,
All the worldly stuff,
That does NOT point to Jesus.
How many of those things point you back to Jesus?
How many of those things make you surrender yourself more to Jesus?
And yet, these platforms are designed to have you come back to them,
To keep scrolling,
To keep watching,
To keep buying,
To keep wanting,
To keep liking,
To keep subscribing,
To keep notifying,
All day long,
All night long,
Every single day.
With this type of OVER-stimulation,
Who has time for Jesus?
When our Spiritual Taste Buds are inundated with spiritual cocaine such as these,
It's such a man-made artificial "high" that is NOT God,
It only DE-sensitizes our Spiritual Taste Buds,
So that Godly things don't taste good anymore.
Just like when you ruin your physical taste buds with processed sugar,
The sweetness of a ripe peach or watermelon is not satisfying,
When you are OVER-stimulated by worldly desires, cravings and satisfactions,
Then God's supernatural sweetness is dull and borning.
BEWARE.
This is not an accident,
This is intentional,
This is by design,
There are active forces trying to DE-sensitize us,
To make us numb and dumb to God's LOVE,
Because there is a SPIRITUAL WAR going on behind all of this.
Satan's angle of attack today is SPIRITUAL cocaine,
To OVER-stimulate our Spiritual Taste Buds,
And deaden our senses to God.
Because if he can win that war,
Everything else falls into his hands of DEATH.
It's already happening...
Almost 33% of teens and adults have anxiety or depression,
Suicide rate for all ages increased 30% in 6 years
Suicide rate for 10-24 yr olds increased by 62% in 14 years
Nearly 1 in 5 students seriously considered attempting suicide.
Here's what's happening.
DE-sensitized = Separation from God = Death.
Satan is trying to DE-sensitize us,
So that we have LESS Jesus in our life,
Resulting in DEATH.
Without Jesus,
We are literraly DYING,
Including by our own hands.
That's how treacherous Satan is,
And that's how IGNORANT and DE-sensitized we are.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy"
"For the wages of sin is death"
"Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life."
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Satan has provided a buffet of spiritual cocaine,
That OVER-stimulate our minds,
Creating an unnatural appetite for the superficial things in life,
STEALING our time from God,
Directing to useless or harmful things,
That separate us from God,
And take us away from life,
Which is death.
DE-sensitized = Separation from God = Death.
Remember there's a spiritual battle to DE-sensitize you
To disconnect us from God,
So beware, be on guard.
"The thief comes only to steal and KILL and destroy; I have come that they may have LIFE"
Here's how serious it is.
Our world has become so DE-sensitized,
We have become so DISCONNECTED from God,
That death is running rampant.
We must be keenly aware of the spiritual battle to DE-sensitize you
To disconnect us from God,
So beware, be on guard.
DE-sensitized = Separation from God = Death.
And clueless as to the spiritual battle behind it all.
If we don't wake up to the DE-sensitization that is going on,
We will perish.
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge"
DE-sensitized = Separation from God = Death.
As a result,
Natural, healthy foods does not taste good,
It's bland,
Reading scripture is not fascinating,
It's boring,
Praying is not exciting,
It's dull,
Talking about God with your friends is not invigorating,
It's weird.
Satan is slowly stripping Jesus out of society and life and we're suffering the consequences.
Our original DESIGN is to be SENSITIVE to God,
To HEAR His voice,
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me"
To FOLLOW His footsteps,
"Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
To ABIDE in Him DAILY.
"Abide in me, and I in you."
But there has been a FIERCE attack on our senses,
Resulting in DE-SENSITIVITY.
Satan is constantly attacking us to
CONTINUALLY downgrade,
Lower,
Diminish our senses,
Until it becomes,
Dead,
Numb,
Useless,
Self-destructive.
In essence this is the path of DEATH.
"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to DEATH."
INSENSITIVITY isn't just about not being able to taste sweet treats,
But Spiritual INSENSITIVITY is Satan's ploy,
To lead us to death by a thousand papercuts,
So subtle we allow it,
Packaged attractively,
So we will consume it,
Presented to delightfully,
So we will want more of it.
We become a frog slowly boiling in water,
Not noticing the heat until it's too late,
Resulting in DEATH.
Remember that Satan's end is DEATH he is ferociously determined to take as many people down with him as possible.
And he's not messing around,
He is as crafty as it gets,
He is the ultimate marketer of snake oil,
Making it look successful, healthy and attractive,
So we MUST be wise to his ways,
And be educated and alert his tactics,
So we don't get deceived an become DE-SENSITISED.
"So that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs."
