Say Less, Love More...
I have a problem.
It's called my tongue.
This little appendage roams too freely,
It grieves the Lord because I can't control it.
But the Lord is O so kind,
Time and time again,
He reminds me,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."
Easier said than done.
Becuase the TRUTH is,
When someone wrongs me,
When someone inconveniences me,
When someone hurts me,
I have A LOT to say,
But what Jesus wants me to do is,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
However, the words from my heart,
The words in my thoughts,
Want to break out into the air.
Every cell in my body wants to vommit out vile words masked as humor, truth or correction,
"The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things."
But the TRUTH is,
Jesus deisres something very different,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
I grieve the Spirit every day with my words,
I grieve the Spirit every day with my thoughts,
But unless I get quiet and sit still,
I can't grasp the gravity and scope of my sins,
If only I would,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
But unless I seek God's face,
Unless I read God's word daily,
Most of the offenses against God go unnoticed,
But the harm done remains and grows,
If only I would,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
"When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent. "
Like the chaff that grows with the wheat,
Harmful and unGodly words flow from my heart unknowingly.
I have come to accept it,
I have come to live with,
I have come enjoy it in my life.
But Holy Spirit reminds me to,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
"But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person."
When I part from gossip,
It calls my name,
When I part from slander,
It invites me back,
When I part from idle talk,
It knocks at my door,
But Holy Spirit reminds me to,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
"Whoever covers an offense seeks LOVE, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends."
Jesus knocks at the door of my heart with Good News,
He knocks at my door with kindness,
He knocks at my door with self control,
But which door will I open up to today?
Which door will I open in the moments of my day?
If only I would,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
"Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."
HOW can we Say LESS, Love MORE?
Here's a STRAEGY.
If we want to LOVE more, then we must feed LOVE.
We must feed LOVE with the God's word.
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter").
Make it your spiritual home to dwell in.
When you wake up in the morning,
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter"),
Before you go to sleep,
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter"),
When you're struggling with anxiety or fear
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter"),
If you feel anything NOT of God,
If you feel stress, anger, frustration, confusion
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter").
"perfect LOVE casts out fear... he who fears has not been made perfect in LOVE."
If you want to LOVE more,
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter"),
Read this DAILY for the next week.
Reading it once a day is great,
Reading it twice a day is better,
Reading it thrice a day is glorious.
Engrain these words into the table of your heart,
So God can make His plans succeed in your life.
What would it be like every child of God can,
Say LESS, Love MORE?
Feed LOVE in your life,
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter"),
And you will see your thoughts change,
You will see your sensitivity increase,
You will find your heart is bothered,
But things that were acceptable before.
"I will cleanse you from all your impurities"
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter") daily for 1 month,
And you will see your heart change,
You will see your thoughts cleansed,
You will see your words refined,
Because LOVE will be imprinted on your heart.
"I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My Laws and be careful to do what I tell you."
READ 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 ("The LOVE Chapter"),
Read it SLOWLY,
Linger with each verse,
Ask Holy Spirit what each verse means,
Close your eyes,
Savor the flavor of what God had for that verse.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding"
When He brings thoughts and memories to mind to confess,
Simply confess,
Lay it down at the feet of Jesus,
Lay it down at the cross in surrender.
Learn the lesson,
Realized how you've grieved Him,
And ask Holy Spirit to change your heart and transform it from the inside out,
And He surely will.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
This is a spiritual battle,
It can only be won with God's word.
There's no PHYSICAL limitation on why we can't keep our mouth shut,
But we can't.
This battle is not physical
It's mental,
It's spiritual,
AND the battle is real,
More real than any physcial battle between man or nations.
Last tip...
If in doubt,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
If you're not sure if you should say something,
If you feel a passionate zeal,
If you feel aggression and sharpness in your tone,
Say LESS, Love MORE.
"Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!"
"Dear Heavenly Father,
