Combine It With Trust...
Have you ever bought something and never used it?
Have you ever found something months (maybe years) after you bought it... and the tag is still on it?
It was paid for with your hard earned dollars,
It's legitimately yours,
But you still never used it.
Sigh...
It's happened to me more often than I care to admit. X_X
The same thing can be said about us with God.
Jesus came and paid in FULL the price to redeem us,
To restore RELATIONSHIP with us,
To give us His PEACE and His REST.
Even giving us His Spirit,
And we often leave Him hanging in the closet.
"let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His REST, any one of you may seem to have come short of it"
In this life of busy-ness,
I wonder how many people even realize that they need REST?
I wonder how many people realize they FORGOT how to REST?
Many can't turn their brain off and REST even if they want to,
And that is NOT God.
Not being able to REST is the opposite of
"be STILL and know that I am God"
And the reason is simple...
"the message they heard didn’t do them any good, because those who heard it did not COMBINE it with TRUST."
We cannot enter REST because we don't TRUST God.
Although God is telling us,
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST."
We don't TRUST God enough not to HUSTLE.
Even if God says,
"My presence will go with you, and I will give you REST."
We don't TRUST that He'll provide if we don't GRIND it out.
God still keeps inviting us,
"Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and REST a while."
Yet we still we don't TRUST that we can spend quiet, alone time with God AND get all necessary things done.
The TRUTH is...
When you COMBINE TRUST in your day,
You are more JOYFUL
You are more PEACEFUL,
You are more LOVING,
Because you have PEACE and REST in God.
When you COMBINE TRUST in your business,
You don't stress about the market conditions,
You don't worry about what your competition is doing,
You don't lose sleep when a deal falls apart,
Because you have PEACE and REST in God.
When you COMBINE TRUST in your finances,
You don't worry about how you're going to pay for things,
You don't fret about when the next deposit will hit your bank,
You know it's coming,
Because you have PEACE and REST in God.
When you COMBINE TRUST in your ambitions,
You don't worry about having the grand master plan,
You don't have to prove anything to anyone,
You don't need to sacrifice your family or your health for work,
Because you have PEACE and REST in God's plan.
So why wouldn't you want to combine TRUST in EVERYTHING?
Take the first step in TRUST,
By feeding on the bread of LIFE each morning,
Starting your day with God,
Quiet, still, and alone with Him,
Giving Him the first fruits of your day,
Choosing to ask Him about EVERYTHING
INVESTING your time with God,
As the ULTIMATE display of TRUST.
"For it is we who have TRUSTED who enter the REST."
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Help me TRUST You in ALL that I do,
Help me TRUST You enough to spend time with You,
Help me TRUST You enough to slow down with You,
Help me TRUST You enough to REST in You.
Help me TRUST You enough to let go of control,
Help me TRUST You enough to pause to listen,
Help me TRUST You enough to be patient,
Help me TRUST You enough REST in Your love.
Help me TRUST You enough to be present with my family,
Help me TRUST You enough to take care of my health,
Help me TRUST You enough to sit and be STILL,
Help me TRUST You enough to REST my brain after work.
Help me TRUST You enough to be loving to my spouse
Help me TRUST You enough to be patient with my children,
Help me TRUST You enough to be compassionate to my parents,
Help me TRUST You enough to REST in You forever more.
