Cause Me To...
Do you have a habit or mindset that isn't pleasing to God?
Do you worry too much about tomorrow?
Does it separate your from God?
Does it cause anxiety or stress?
Do you lose your peace when you do?
Yet in our minds,
We know better,
But our heart doesn't always follow,
The thoughts of,
"What if...",
"shoulda, woulda, coulda",
Floods the mind,
You want it to stop,
But it won't,
You're helpless to stop it,
It keeps coming back.
This can be anxious thoughts,
This can be distracting thoughts,
That keep us from being present with our loved ones,
It can be unstoppable thoughts,
That keep us from sleeping and resting.
It can be obsessive thoughts,
That keep us from being still,
It can be a short temper,
That hurting those around us,
It can be idolizing ambition over relationships,
That cause a hardness of heart.
As humans,
We are helpless against these roots in our nature,
We are born of sin,
Therefore this is our natural default,
However there is ONLY one person who can change us,
Truly from the inside out,
And that is Holy Spirit.
There is a promise of God,
That explains the process of the change,
And I LOVE the part,
Where He says He will do ALL the heavy lifting,
He will do ALL the work,
He will do ALL the changing,
He will do ALL the moving,
He will do it ALL period.
"I will put my Spirit inside you and cause you to live by my laws"
Do you know what a relief that is?
The fact that we don't have to rely on our helpless selves,
We don't have to rely on our rotten abilities,
We don't have to lean on our corrupt minds,
To try to be clean, kind, pure, patient, holy and pleasing to God.
Thank God!!!
I love reading all the various translations of this verse to see it worded a dozen different ways on how God will do ALL the work and CAUSE me to align with His will.
What a load off my back!
So what is our part if God's doing all the work?
SEEKING Him,
TRUSTING Him,
ABIDING in Him,
RESTING in Him,
ASKING Him,
WAITING on Him,
Being STILL with Him,
EARNESTLY,
EAGERLY,
REPEATEDLY,
CONTINUOUSLY,
DILIGENTLY,
PERSEVERINGLY,
ENDURINGLY
PERSISTENTLY.
Basically, keep coming back to him again and again and again and again...
And He will do the following...
"I will put my Spirit in you and make you eager to obey my laws"
"I will put my Spirit inside you and change you so that you will obey my laws"
"I will put my Spirit in you. I will enable you to live by my laws"
"I will put my spirit in you and will see to it that you follow my laws"
"I will put my Spirit inside you. And I will help you live by my rules."
"I will put my Spirit within you; I will take the initiative, and you will obey my statutes"
"And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees"
"I’ll place my spirit within you, empowering you to live according to my regulations "
God knows how weak we are,
How incapable we are,
How unfaithful we are,
So He is telling us...
"Let me help you,
You can't do it on your own,
I'll do it for you,
Let me move you,
Let me change you,
With gentleness and ease,
Let me..."
"Dear Heavenly Father,
In Jesus name, Amen."
